DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT

Just like any production process, there are a number of defined steps in building a web site. Here's how we handle it:

PROPOSAL
Any time a Client approaches us to quote on a project, the first thing we ask you to do is clearly document your requirements. Every single project that we have worked on has been different from the rest. In order for us to provide an accurate quote, we have to figure out how we will technically and creatively meet all of your requirements, and then calculate how many hours we estimate it will take us to do the work. It also helps if you can provide a budget range. This is because there are always a number of different ways to create functions and features, and the level of sophistication is dependent on the amount of funds available.
PREPRODUCTION
Once our proposal has been accepted, we will require certain content elements: any text that will appear on your site, logos, corporate colours and fonts, existing corporate materials with elements you would like incorporated into the site design, photos, videos, pdf files or other special material you want made accessible from your site. If your site includes a database, we will start working with you to establish what data already exists, in what format, and how you would like that data made available on your site. This also includes setting up a product catalogue if you will be including an e-commerce component. If you require a domain name, we will register it for you. If you will be transferring an existing domain name, or transferring an existing site to a new host, we will initiate those processes.
CUSTOM INTERFACE DESIGN
Using the materials you supply, Byte Size Media will create 2-3 Web site interface designs for you to select from and then make any revisions to the overall design that you request.
PRODUCTION
Production of Web pages begins after the site look-and-feel have been finalized in the Design Stage. Production of any additional features such as Flash animation or functional programming such as databases are commenced. If required, we'll work with you to draft your site's Privacy Policy. Once completed, the site is put on a private server so you can review and request revisions. During this time, any programming problems are detected and repaired. When your requested revisions have been completed, and the site has been finalized and approved, it is made publicly accessible.
MAINTENANCE
After the site has launched, you may require ongoing maintenance of the content. We can do this for you, or if you specified that you would like a Content Management System in your request, we will show you how to update the content yourself. Once the site is up and running, we don't just walk away. We are available for continuing technical support to answer your questions, help you interpret visitor statistics, and make sure your site continues to run smoothly.
